As basketball season for the girl comes to a wrap I made an observation. The girls fouled more than the boys did! It seems every other second there was a foul on someone. The boys were making fouls only when they needed but the girls. Woah:). So I was wondering if maybe girls are more agressive than guys when it comes to sports. Except of course for sports such as kick boxing and hockey because ladies are not allowed to check. Girls can be very viscious though, on and off the court. Have you seen the movie "Mean Girls"? When it comes to basketball girls seem to be more aggressive because they feel the need to prove themselves to every skeptic that physical contact sports are not for girls. I know I used to feel that way when I played basketball. It makes sense though? Just imagine if really really muscular girls played wrestling? Then the coaches wouldn't say wrestling is just for the boys!

Lonliness
You make me smile like the sun
Fall outta bed
Sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
Fall outta bed
Sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

Friendship.
Friendship
Friendship. All is fair in love and war? Does that go for friendship, too? I think it does. You'll have your ups and your downs but that's what you have each other for. A friendship starts with finding things you have in common with another person. In my opinion, everyone could be friends with everyone because I doubt two people don't have at least one thing in common with each other. Friendship is also serious. To call yourself a true friend is to prove it by your actions. If your friend is having a rough day it's part of your job to make sure you are there for them if they need someone to vent to. If your friendship is based on inside jokes, your friendship is frankly a joke! Make sure you two can have serious discussions about things as well as joke around about the kid who farted in gym class during sit-ups. Friendship is very important in a world filled with unnecessary pressures. This may have been an all-over-the-place blog but I truly believe friendship is a key part to staying sane in this world.

Waking up at 6 in the morning is a hassle when you have to be to school at a certain time. Especially when you're a girl! You have to straighten your hair, put your contacts in, do your makeup, not to mention pick out your outfit! Whenever i have to be at school before normal school hours is for show choir, jazz band, or church. all of those times are 7:15. Nights can get late when you bring home lots of homework. I don't remember the last time I didn't have homework in math. I wish... that I could just take seven periods of a mixture of photography, gym, choir, and band. If I took three hours of gym I'd be in great shape! I'd be ready to kick butt when tennis season comes around. I would like to have one period of photography because I love using Photoshop and taking pictures and making my own thing with them. I would choose a period of choir because your voice goes with you you whole life! And singing can get you fa with anyone because music is universal. I would also choose band because I love playing my trombone. Not a lot of girls play trombone but when we do we're great ;). I get sad when I think about graduating because when am I going to play a trombone outside of school? It's not like say, a trumpet when you can pick it up and play a popular song. I can't just say "Oh you want some music? Here, let me whip out my trombone and play something for you!" Nope. That would be kind of social suicide.
Intelligence
Intelligence is very important in everything you do because where are you going to get in life if you don't know how to get there? There are a lot of young kids these days who could use a good dose of intelligence... the ones who thinks its just awesome to get drunk or high every weekend. And the ones who sleep around every other day. They just don't know or choose to ignore the facts staring them in the face about what they're doing. Anyways back to intelligence, sweetie with the great hair and face you can't rely on your looks all your life. You gotta' get some brains behind that beauty. College is very expensive yes but it is a great opportunity and some great paying jobs won't look at you twice if you don't have the degree of school they're looking for. Even though you're completely capable of doing the job, if you don't have the degree to back it up, you have nothing. You may be able to sew up a mean cut but if you didn't go to school for it forget it! Even if you can argue to win your case if you didn't take the Bar test you can't be taken seriously as a lawyer. Remember to use your intelligence! ;)

I love Pandora. Pandora is an internet radio. You can also get it as an app for your iPod... like i've done! You can also choose your favorite playlists. The playlists I have chosen are the oldies but goodies. I love music from the 50s on up. In Jazz Band we're playing a lot of these songs. Such as Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond and Barbara Ann. It's nice to hear the actual songs that we're playing in their original format with the words as well. I have been listening to a lot of Buddy Holly and Elvis. I did see the movie about Buddy Holly way back when but have never really listened to his music and now I appreciate his songs. Love songs are also really popular with me, right now I am listening to Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper. Had I not gotten Pandora I would have only known this song from Napolean Dynamite. Sad huh? Yes. I prefer old songs over any of the songs going on now which are so vulgar they would make grandma sick. Ah, Piano Man by Billy Joel is on next! Anyways, I like to listen to these songs when I don't feel like getting called "shawty" in the newest songs out.
Work Ethic
A good work ethic is important to have around the age 16, because this is the time teenagers should be getting a job. A bad work ethic can mess up your resume for a long time. Say, if you showed up to work late every day and eventually got fired, when you apply for a new job they will call your old job to see if you're a good worker..... but your not! and you won't get hired. Awesome right? No. Get a good work ethic so you can be on good terms with your boss and be more eligible for a raise or promotion. Now what is a good work ethic you ask? A good work ethic is when you show up on time for work, (maybe even early) dress appropriately, actually do what you're supposed to do, and have a good attitude toward all. Showing up to work on time is necessary because you're probably being paid by the hour so you need to get there so you can earn all you're supposed to. Why is dressing appropriately important for work? Because clothes are sometimes statements of who you are and some people can be easily offended by it. Or you might attract too much negative attention by uh.... barely dressing! When you're at work you need to do all you can to help show your boss you are dedicated to what you do. Your attitude is extremely important in the work place because if you are happy you wont dread waking up early in the morning and no one will dread working with you.

The snow is beautiful! But not when its so thin that you can see the grass poke through then the ground just looks like a balding head. I don't like that. There was a status on Facebook today that said "Why do people keep treating snow like acid? If you step in it it won't hurt you. You've been living in Minnesota for how long? And your still not used to it?" :). I like it! Yep, it's cold, but until you're eighteen you can't move out on your own so get used to it. Snow is not even that bad, yes its cold and makes makeup run and hair frizz, but what if you were one of those Californians who have never seen snow in their life? Then you'd love it. If I moved, I wold definately miss the snow. And driving through the snow swerving on the ice helps make you a better driver because you'll know how to drive in any condition. I love the Minnesota snow!

Courage
Courage comes from within. Sometimes you don't know you have a lot of it until you are put in the situation where you need it. I was watching The Ant Bully yesterday and at the end of the movie, of course, Lucas finds the courage within to stand up to the bully. I don't think anyone is necessarily lacking in courage, it may just not be utalized. Even the littlest things take some courage. How about answering a question? You have to get the courage to respond with how you really feel instead of say, "going with the flow". Courage cannot be taught in school, it's a human instinct. Sometimes courage is discouraged in school. Say you have the courage to pop jokes in class! That may be disouraged by teachers. Oh and faith! Don't ever talk aout your faith in shool if you're a Christian! Yep, don't be courageous to do that!

I love to watch shows on illegal immigration control.:). Like Border Wars. It's a good show because the guards show that they are human when they listen to the immigrants' stories about wanting a better life or maybe wanting to see a family member who lives in America. I feel strongly against illegal immigration because it is not fair that our tax payers' money goes to supporting their lifestyles. And what if they make a social security code off the top of their head and it's someones who cannot afford to have this extra baggage on their account. The Cartel hire scouts to watch for weaknesses in the border so they can send more people and drugs across. Many people wishing to cross the boarder have to pay dues to the Cartel's workers, "Coyotes" to help them get across. The fees are up in the thousands. The Mexican president had some nerve to make a public speech that Arizona has no right to start pulling cars over just because the driver looks Mexicano. If they are going to come and be violent why can't we make a precautionary law?

Leadership
Leadership is very important in everything you do. A leader can make sense of a hectic situation. They give direction and motive to get the job done. But a leader can also be corrupt, for instance, Kim Jong-Il. He has led his people to believe that he is to be praised and loved like a leader should be even though he does not do things a loving leader who loved his people would do. No one from other countries are allowed to take a vacation to North Korea. You are allowed to go if you have a purpose, like the news team from America did; Catarax surgery. Many of the people in North Korea are going blind and have stunted growth because of under nourishment. How could a leader do that to their people? If a person escapes from North Korea and it is made known that they left, the family they left behind will be murdered, that is the punishment. ANd even after all of this horrible treatment, the people of North Korea are taught from their earliest years to praise and worship "The Great Leader". I think there have been greater leaders!
Giving
In my opinion, giving should be done privately and personally. It is so much more special to the receiver when it's done in the secret when maybe their poverty won't be exploited like some fund raising done by organizations who want their reputation to be boosted. When an organization makes the family to which they are donating known, that is rude and embarrassing to the family. Although, I will say that even though sometimes these efforts are in vain, it still gives the family something they didn't have before. A person who gives in secret is very special because then the family feels no pressure to put up a show for that person. Yes, holidays are a time for giving, and giving should be done... but it should be done right!:)

On Friday nights, my church hold a Kids' Church. The numbers range between in the 20s to all the way in the 60s. These are the kids who are, well, street kids. They come from dysfunctional families with multiple sets of siblings from different dads or different moms. We get the privilege of loving on these kids and giving them something fun to do on a Friday night. I have become quite close with most of these kids and usually know when a new kid is visiting. This past Friday a relatively new child had come to Kid's Church. His first offense was probably talking to his friends excessively so that resulted in getting moved to a different pew in the sanctuary. This usually wouldn't be a big deal for a child. But this one just seemed set out to be a trouble maker! It wasn't long after the move that he took out his phone and started texting, (something not allowed during Kid's Church). A worker tried to confiscate the phone but he would not give it up. This resulted in yet another move and a talk from the leader herself. during the talk the child became belligerent and rude so the child was to be sent home. When the child refused to tell our workers what his address was so he could be sent home he became violent so the police were called to take the child home. Eventful night? I think yes!
Hope
Some would maybe say that hope is the reason or the will to live. If you have no hope, then you are not living. Or perhaps you have lost hope in a situation that is not between life and death, then maybe hope has a different meaning for you. But when you're talking about a life or death situation, if you hang on to even the tiniest bit of hope then you will survive in every sense of the word, but if you lose hope... then you have nothing to hold onto. No will for living. No reason to continue. Life throws many curve balls your way to get you to lose hope, to knock you to your knees. Hope must be kept if you are to survive and persevere. Today at church, we learned of a young single mother who just had to deal with the loss of losing her young child. Now, this is where hope comes into play, she can either let this break her, or keep hope and keep going on. Hopefully she keeps the hope. (I am hopeful she keeps hope;) ).

So........ I have a West Highland White Terrier dog. He's about 13, and his name is Rusty. I've practically grown up with this little guy. Well, the point of this blog is to tell you he got a haircut. My brother and I rarely brush him and the result of that is that Rusty had near dreadlocks. Now, with this haircut, he looks like a little gentleman! It seems as though his size was minimized with this new "do" and he looks the size of a dog that Paris Hilton would carry around in one of her bright pink designer bags. Everytime he gets his hair cut Rusty seems to carry himself with pride and grace. Which is odd for a dog probably.
When we take him on walks Rusty will see his shadow and think he is as tall as it is. It's a cute sight. My new and improved, regal dog is sucking on a blanket as I am typing this. Perhaps it's a good time to quit singing compliments.:)

Adaptation
An amazing thing about the human race is that we can adapt to every new thing live throws at us. "Survival mode" is what keeps us going when we're stuck in a life or death situation. It seems as if a person's views and morals completely change. Like the plane that crashed in a mountain years ago, they had to resort to cannibalism. I'll bet you a year before that had they been asked a question if they would ever be a cannibal they would say never. And look what they had become in the dark night of survival or death. Cannibals. Why? They had the will to live and were willing to give up morals to survive.
Sometimes a person who is without food for awhile or have very little will get used to it. They adapt. People learn to live with their current conditions. The better situation to adapt to would be the "rags to riches" scenario.;). The human race is very interesting how adaptations can be made very quickly.

Human Vs. Animals
The differences between humans and animals are huge. Or are they? No I don't agree with the theory of evolution but I do believe some organisms' bone structures are alike. We just learned that in Biology. Some examples would be that birds have bones that resemble a hand under their feathers and we of course, have hands. The primate family is also close to our bone structure. They have two arms and two legs, fingers and toes... and a vertebrae. Are we similar? Yes. Did we come from Lucie? Primates no, humans no.
Now, just because we are similar in our bone structure and other features, doesn't mean humans and animals are treated the same. Humans get to eat at tables, have a variety of foods and drinks, wear clothes, go into fancy restaurants, speak, etc. The list goes on and on. But when humans are treated more like animals then humans, then there's a problem. Every human in America has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and if that is taken away from someone then a line must be drawn with the offender. That should be the laws in every country. Then maybe we wouldn't have to read the news and see that a group of radical Muslims blindfolded and beheaded Americans on television. How can a country let their people act like this? How can they not do everything in their power to take away their rights like they took away the rights and lives of those Americans.

Today is Halloween. Because Halloween is not a holiday, but more of a dark day meant originally for the cult, our church's girls group hosted a fall party. The older girls mentor a group of 6th-8th grade girls as a way to usher them into their teenage years. The fall party consisted of games, face paining, yummy food and candy. Right now as I'm sitting here typing, I'm trying to peel off the excess of the paint on my face. Pumpkins are a necessity for any fall party so I took a few little kids to the pumpkin patch yesterday. The teacher gutted, cleaned, and carved the pumpkin in front of the attendees of the party and at the end she put a candle inside of it. The slimy guts of the pumpkins represented the sin God takes away from us when we become a Christian and the seeds represented something bad that God turns around for good. (Seeds are not good raw but when you put sugar and cinnamon on them and pop them in the oven they're delish!) The candle is to represent the light of Christ. The teacher carved a cross into the front of the pumpkin. Hopefully the girls picked up on the message, even though none of us older girls will feel as if a night has been wasted. Just like the saying "The true meaning of Christmas" people need to learn the "True meaning of Halloween!" ;)

Beauty
"The lights of her eyes shone through even the blackest parts of the night O her beauty... her beauty"
Beauty, beauty. The idea of beauty changes every year. Is straight hair beauty, is lots of makeup beauty, is flaunting the most skin you can beauty? Many many years ago beauty would be in how pale your skin was and how tight you could make your waist in a corset. Now its evolved into how skinny a girl can get and how much skin she can show. Makeup is worn by little, little girls to make them feel pretty and to attract the little boys who she thinks is mature enough to call him "boyfriend". The skirt/short lengths creep up and up each year. And the necklines plunge ever so much deeper and deeper. And the makeup is applied thicker and thicker. And the girls get skinnier and skinnier. And the ages get younger and younger.

"I couldn't read her"
That's what my coach said as he was calling my name to receive my 'Most Improved' award. Am I really that hard to read? I am a tennis player and have been playing for about three years now. I play varsity sometimes and sometimes I don't. But am I really that hard to read when I'm playing? Probably. When I step on a tennis court that match will have me either at the heights of my emotions or the depths. One time I had to play with someone lower then my skill level because another girl (who was about the same level as my girl) refused to play with her. That match had the depths. But what makes a person hard to read? A blank expression? I definitely would not have a blank look on my face during a tennis match. I guess you just got to keep your fans guessing because you're not playing for them anyways!;)
